Texas Women Pay More for Health Insurance

There''s a gender gap when it comes to what women in Texas pay for health insurance, according to a study.

According to a study by the National Women''s Law Center, a 25-year-old woman in the Lone Star State will pay as much as 22 percent more than men do when buying individual coverage if she is not covered under an employer''s health plan. A 40-year-old woman will pay as much as 37 percent more.

We know that the women are required to pay less on their auto insurance since they are women, but the trend is reversed in case of health insurance for women. In many states women are required to pay higher premium than their male counterparts. Honestly I don't see a reason why it should be so, do you guys no the reason?

Hey Rupert, the women may require to pay more visits to the doctor because of the certain health conditions that are prevalent among the women, like- the possibility of breast cancer. But we also have to remember that every time one visits a doctor she has to share the cost with her insurer. Hence, IMO the chances of misusing coverage is negligible . However, the experts would know better.
