I'd say hands down...''It wasn't that way before the wreck''...trying to get some prior damage included in the damage that was actually caused by the loss.

Hi,
It seems there are too many claims regarding stolen cars these days. The investigations concerning quite a few of them have probably revealed a different truth.
It's a fact that people would intentionally leave their cars unlocked and parked (while the keys would be in). It can't be a better opportunity for them to report it as "stolen" when it finally goes missing.

Lori is absolutely correct!
How would an investigator know if you include an old dent in your list of damages?
It's truly easy to include such things in your list of damages to get them fixed without really spending a cent. But are you aware of the rust-analysis technology that the SIU uses now-a-days. I think they are perfectly capable to studying the tear pattern and determining whether the dent is new or old. Roddick |

Most of the time, it's pretty easy to tell the difference. People that do this (lie) also don't understand how vehicles react in collisions, and do not 'think' their lie through as they should..(ie different color paint transfer etc)

Lately we have had and increased amount of claim from rental car companies claiming the prior damage was caused by our insured. Most of my clients have documentation from the pre-rental inspection that shows the damages they are claiming.
We are finding that if you call the rental companies on it they back track and say "oh it was a mistake on our behalf." |

I'm truly amazed to know about these people who're working for such rental companies. We really can't expect this kinda claims from organizations that are supposed to reflect good standards of professionalism.

Hi,
If adding a 'dent' would be so tough, then some of you may start believing that it would be easier to add a couple of friends to your list of "injured persons" to add more to your claim.
If you're thinking in those directions, then let me assure you that such a thing would immediately cause the investigators to raise their eyebrows if the collision accounts vary.
If your account varies with that of the witnesses, the other party or the police report, then it won't do you any good.
