I was on short term disability ,then went on for long term.my co let me go feb 10/08.if i am released to work dec.10/08 can i still get my unemployment benefits,if filed before feb 2009.

I think you can't collect both the benefits at the same time. Therefore, when you are receiving the long term disability benefits, you may not qualify for the unemployment benefits during this period. |

I'm not sure if I have understood the implication of the date in the post, may be some seasoned member can solve the puzzle.
However, once you have recovered from the reason of disability and is eligible to join back the work force and have the job ready in your hand (that is you were not sacked) you may not qualify for the unemployment benefits. And definitely you can't receive both the disability and the unemployment benefits at the same time.

can I collect unemployment benefits in Colorado if I have filed for social security disability but have not been approved? Is there a way to claim such benefits under unemployment after disability application gets rejected?

i am gettting unemployment, and dis ability case coming up how will this affect my hearing? The only reason i'm getting unemployment is that i once did light duty work for the company i worked for and this job is no longer avible

Let's clarify what we mean by disability benefits. If we are talking about a group plan, then no you cannot receive unemployment benefits b/c the only way you would receive benefits for group LTD is by still being an employee. If the company terminates you then you'll lose the LTD benefits but will become eligible for unemplyoment benefits.
If we are talking about individual disability insurance you could receive benefits and unemployment if you have been terminated from your current employee.

Or benefits granted under an insurance policy due to loss of income caused by redundancy?

yep..when someone (in the US anyway) refers to unemployment they are talking about a state program..when you work you build up, 'unemployment benefits' it depends on how long you work and how much you've made, and why you are without a job if you qualify and how much you qualify to receive.

There are few jobs that offer this type of insurance, my husband has it (he's a RR engineer)..but honestly that is the only trade/union I know personally that offer it. It's a private policy that he pays for. Though never used thank God.

It depends, but would be hard..can you be searching for meaningful employment if your are on long terms disability? I don't know any state unemployment that doesn't require this.

I've been laid off and have a disabling condition that may prevent me from re-entering the job market. Will I be able to collect unemployment and disability at the same time?
