To answer your question regarding whether or not a website is a necessity, allow me to offer the following information:

According to comScore's 2009 Online Auto Insurance Report, 67% of consumers used the internet to research their auto insurance in the last year. Not having a website precludes you from the opportunity to market to that segment.

While getting a website is certainly in the right direction, a website needs to be much more than just a posted business card.

I guess it depends a lot on your business potential and your volume of operations. Yes, I'd agree to the fact that today a website is often a vital source of lead generation for many of us, but it also has a lot to do with it's maintenance and promotion.

We'd really need to think and decide about our area of operation. Once we're aware of our goals we could set our targets accordingly.

I'm just curious at this point. My experience has been in the sales of real estate for years, and a website is essential. While I assume as much, I am just wondering if that trend extends to insurance as well...

Either way, I appreciate you for your feedback!
